The DiolazeXL laser destroys hair follicles by concentrating energy beams onto them during their growth stage. What should you do to prepare for a DiolazeXL hair removal treatment?

- Do not wax or pluck the area. The laser targets the root of the hair follicle and if there is no root, there is nothing to treat

- Do shave the day before. Shaving exposes the root of the hair follicle allowing for efficient hair removal, and doing so the day before avoids increased irritation

- Avoid sun exposure. UV rays are harmful to the skin. Limit sun exposure, apply broad spectrum sunscreen, and avoid tanning beds for at least two weeks before your appointment

- No harsh products for at least four weeks before treatment. Only use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer and avoid any self-tanning products, hydroxy acids, salicylic acid, chemical peels, or other skin-irritating substances to ensure a irritation-free treatment

- Avoid hot showers. Although they can be relaxing, hot showers can cause dry skin which can cause unnecessary irritation during treatment

- Avoid any other cosmetic procedure in the treatment area for one month prior to your appointment.

- Shower before your appointment. This will remove any residual lotions or skincare products which makes sure your skin will be fresh and prepped for your treatment.

- If you are on any blood thinners, pain relievers, antibiotics, or topical medications talk to your doctor to see if you can pause them as they may cause the skin's surface to become more sensitive to the hair removal process.

- Keep the treated area moisturized with moisturizer or aloe vera for at least 1-2 days post treatment.
